So the farrier came out again yesterday. I'm going to be sad to lose him but his area does not include Shelby County. :( Her hoove's look amazing! I am going to ride her tomorrow. Like ride ride. She is ready. While she still needs about 100lbs, she is definately to the point where I can hop on and take a go. Nothing strenuous, I don't want to hurt her. But I do want to see what she can do. I wish I had a bitless bridle and I am pretty sure that will be the direction I take with her later on.
I've found a saddle I like that is used and I will probably buy it next week. So that part is down. I will take pics tomm of the riding for all to see and ga ga over. Joe will be there so he will be my camera man.
Let's see nothing else really. Oh! Want some pictures?

Neglect

No, not animal neglect you silly people! Blog neglect! It's been horrid! I've been busy! And I don't have a single picture to show for it!!!!

Lets run down a list of stuff I've got going on.....

Buck:

He is the wonder dog. I mean really. How a 3 year old mutt gets so many issues while our 13 year old hasn't been to the vet at all outside of yearly shots is beyond me. So, Buck had this spot on the side of his face which I assumed was a hot spot. Mkay. I was going to shave it and then put cortisone cream on it. Buck would not let me shave it at all. So all I could do was wash it really well and then put the cream on it. 4 days later it wasn't any better and was actually getting worse.

The the vet! The vet told me he would like to put him to sleep, shave his whole head, work the infection out, and then give him back. But since I took Buck in on Friday and the vet wouldn't be back till Tuesday (holiday), we would take a different approach....

2 BIG shots of cortisone, 1 package of prednisone, and 1 package of antibiotics to fight the infection later, Bucks head is FINALLY looking better. He's on the medicine for another week and I will have to say he doesn't look like a zombie anymore. The peeling flesh has stopped. The doctor said it looked like a bug bite gone horribly wrong. Oh Buck.

Poison Ivy:

Joe and I both have a case of the ivy..... and it itches.... holy shit. His is much worse than mine, covering almost every limb, ok every limb. He doesn't have that many you know. I woke up last night in an itching fit. Sigh. My problem is I will itch it till I bleed.......

Dodge:

My sweet sweet Dodge. I think, no I know, she is going to be moved on Saturday. It is my only day off and so that is move day for her. I've already let the boarding stable know and I am so relieved to move her! The farrier is going to come out today to give her her final trim before she is moved.

I need to get her one more bath and either completely do a short clip on her mane or try to work the gross out. I think I'm just going to do a short clip. Her mane is soooooo matted. I mean, I tried to pick at it yesterday, but gave up. She almost has dreadlocks it's so bad.

I got her a new halter and also a lunge line since I won't be taking the old owners with me. I need to get a lunge whip as well. I guess soon I'll be looking at ebay for saddles and saddle pads. I was checking CraigsList the other day and will continue to do that. I think i will try her in a bitless bridle as well until I can get her teeth done and in good order.

I like bitless bridles anyway and from what I've seen of them in use, they are similar in reactions to a bitted one. I can't believe I am going to ride her! Probably not until fall though... I want her to fatten up on pasture and then worked alot on the lunge to listening before I try to ride. EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Dodge Dodge Dodge

She got one up on me last night. That damn horse. I didn't realize she did it till after I put her up. I've been working on lunging both ways. Counterclockwise and clockwise. So, she hates going counterclockwise so I feel the need to push that side a little more than the other right?

She stopped the first time around and looked at me. I asked her to go to which she stood there so then she got a little bit of the whip. Just a taste and she flew out all pissed off in a canter throwing up her back feet. Screw you lady, you go when I say.

Then we switched directions. I was so freaking involved on getting her to woah and move when I wanted her to that when she stopped again and changed directions I didn't correct it. I let her do it. I realized it after I put her up that I just rewarded her by letting her do what she wants.

She won't win the battle on Weds. She won't.

Neglect

I feel like I have been totally neglecting this blog! Oh wait, I have!

The wedding went amazingly well! Everything ended up perfect! I'll get pictures up at some point. I'm waiting on the profs to show up. All 350 of them.........

I saw Dodge on Saturday..... she looked ok. A new scratch on her rump but I wouldn't put it past her to run into something outside. The pasture is not in the best shape. I need to get the farrier out there and call the transport place today. She is ready to be moved! I got her negative coggins and her health cert last week. I'm thinking we are going to move her next week sometime. Probably Thursday or Friday. That way I can go check her out on Sunday and see how she is adjusting to non stall life.

I bought her a new halter and a lunge line. As her old halter is just gross. But I bite my tongue. I need to get a lunge whip but they wanted 20 bucks for one. I'm pretty sure I can find cheaper. Then next is to start assembling tack. I will start checking ebay, as I think I can find the best stuff there at fair prices. And Craigslist.

I love her to peices!

Wedding Muesings

So it's now down to 5 days. I'm slowly starting to freak out! I even had a dream about it last night! The wedding in that dream was horrible! I hope ours is NOT like that!

Things to do this week:

Monday: visit Dodge and get her cleaned up, mucked out, and lunged. Run outside tonight.

Tuesday: Help MIL make the centerpeices for the tables. Run outside.

Wendsday: Pick up dogs perscriptions, buy all soda for the wedding, buy stuff to make signs with. finish freaking out

Thursday: get off half day and prepare for the wedding. Need to find my shoes that I will wear, get my dress for rehearsal dinner, pack for lake cumberland, visit Dodge at some point for the vet, get the trucks loaded up with crap to take down on Friday to the farm. Clean clean clean the house. Host a small BBQ for the parents. Paint the cornhole boards.

Friday: spend all day at the farm hanging the lights, setting up the tables, the portapotties, getting the ceremony site together at the top of the hill, setting up the volleyball net, laying out the cornhole boards, setting up our tents, setting up the shade tents, setting up the trash cans, set up the signs for directions. Get back in town by 5pm so that we can go to the rehearsal dinner at 7pm.

Saturday: Get up and jet to Whole Foods and pick out flowers for Janine and I. Then to Chaplin to meet at Mamaw's house for the getting ready thing. This should be interesting.... a million women in one small house. I forsee the fight. Have a wedding by 3pm!

So yeah.... my week is filled with crap to do! I have like not a second atm to think! And I know I'm forgetting things on that list!

No Pictures :(

Yesterday it was raining and honestly I didn't do that much with her. Since I hadn't been out there in 2 days her stall was gross. So I didn't even muck it, I stuck her in the dry stall and I'll muck and spread fresh shavings down on Friday. Joe is never going to see me. Haha.

I've been in wedding mode this week and it will continue into next as you can imagine. This morning it gave a 10% chance of rain and this after noon it said 60% chance. WTH!! Make up your mind weather! I need to know what it is going to do because I need to figure out if I need a tent or not! I'll wait till Monday to see what it does then plan of action from there. If all else fails there is the church in Chaplin to marry in. So there is options. Stupid weather.
